1:38:11 is 7:30 pace! I'm 30+ years younger and can barely manage that pace for my 5 mile runs.

What's even more amazing is that it looks like he did a Mile race in June and only managed 7:01.
It's odd that he broke the half marathon record by only a small amount (I think it was his own record, but even that one was only a little better than the previous mark), but he utterly *destroyed* the M80 marathon record. I suppose that just points to the fact that 80 year olds typically are too fragile to run a fast marathon, but a fast half is more approachable. Either that, or Ed needs to work on his speed.

After an article in an Indian newspaper, someone who claims to be from the same village as Falujah Singh commented that it is common knowledge and kind of a running joke (pun intended) that he is actually in his 80s. Apparently the commenter's relative went to school with him and they are of the same grad class and he is 83 or something like that. Who knows....

What makes it even more impressive is that Ed himself has arthritis in both knees. He posted about missing time due to it a couple years ago.

My theory is, Ed has learned how to stop time. He doesn't actually realize he learned. It just comes naturally to him. We should all be so lucky. :-)

I think what he meant is that a 7:30 HM pace is impressive when your mile speed is 7:01. 2-3 hr slow daily runs will do that for you.
what if he is on EPO? hgh? blood doping?
unless he has taken tests to prove otherwise, I'm going to have to go with the LRC standard of "runs a time faster than average therefore must be doping."
