It's what the announcer said after the race. Everyone had months to prepare for this race and it was the same tactics, same results. It's not a surprise that Mo won though.

I think I saw Farah pouring water over his head (from a bottle) on the track before the race. Rupp probably did the same. He certainly did not have any fever, given the way he ran.
On the other hand, I wonder what was wrong with Dejen. Him having an off day spoiled the race a little. Also, since the race was not so fast and the many sub-par Ethiopian showings, the EAF may be regretting not trying their luck with Kenenisa now.

Which would be fine by me if some people had not found a way to turn a 28-year-old from average to best without getting caught. Not to mention people getting away with TUEs for thyroid hormone treatment. Hormones should be banned, be them administered for medical reasons or not. Too difficult to tell the two cases apart.

I don't understand this line of thinking -- have you guys really forgotten 2011 so quickly? Jeilan used similar tactics to beat Farah then, and he was less than half a second away from doing so again today. The other Ethiopians were evidently not in great shape for whatever reason, and the Kenyans outside of Tanui just weren't that good. I don't know how anyone who watched 2011 WCs can say that they didn't find this race exciting.

After Mo Ahmed's performance today, I hope people finally are going to give Mick Byrne the credit he deserves. He is, without doubt, one of the two or three best collegiate coaches in America...period. Any young runner with talent out there who passes on a chance to run for him is a fool.

The biggest surprise was all the empty seats in the stadium.
The temperature in Moscow was 83 degrees, with over 80 per cent humidity. Perhaps it was even warmer in the stadium.
This may account for the slower times, and for some of the runners not doing as well as expected.
