DUCK ALERT: Rupp is DUCKING the Diamond League while his rivals (even Farah) are racing it

Technically, Lagat's only diamond league 5000m was at the Pre Classic, and he finished one place ahead of Rupp, which actually makes sense because he also finished one place ahead of Rupp at USAs.

And Lagat being 38 years old has nothing to do with the matter. He's still the best 5000m runner in the USA, considering he very recently took the record, and unless it's changed within the last few years, he has a home in Germany, so traveling to Europe isn't really a big deal for him.

So despite all your yammering on about this, you should technically also be complaining about him.

Rupp has an olympic silver medal, a smoking hot wife, and a big Nike contract to the point where he can RUN for a living and be set for life. I\'m sure he is quite upset at what is being said about him on internet message boards!, and will start racing more DL\'s right away! rofl

Rupp is coming off racing at USATFs. He probably took that pretty seriously to insure he'd make the world team. What would be the point of doing well in the diamond league if Rupp wasn't ready for worlds.

I recall that Mahieddine has only run one diamond league event in 2013, and I don't recall Amos having run any.

Is this guy (Rupp-certified Saladbar)serious? If so, he has a mental problem. Here we have arguably the greatest American distance runner of all time, and the guy complains? Weird, is all I can say.

Exactly. You gave me ONE. Proving that DUCKING is the EXCEPTION to the RULE: the VAST MAJORITY of elite athletes ACTUALLY COMPETE WITH OTHER ELITE ATHLETES. But not Rupp.

You completely missed my point about sponsorship, by the way. You assumed that I meant Manzano has inadequate financial support to travel on the circuit. Wrong. I'm sure he does.

My point was that as an unsponsored athlete, Manzano gets a pass to follow whatever schedule he makes up for himself, and it doesn't seem as ridiculous for him not to play in the big leagues year round if he doesn't want to.

I would think that sponsored athletes would have a bit of an obligation to, um, compete. Apparently you disagree.

Lagat - Raced as much as Rupp
