Actually I am not stupid. 20 seconds is 9% of 3:43. 20 seconds is 8% of 4:12. One percentage point - not "a much larger percentage" as you said.

None of you are right. IAAF tables specifically state you can't use them to compare genders because of biological differences (they were created to compare performances within a gender, not for the point to be on par across genders). You also can't use percentages or second off of the world records because women's times fall off much more drastically. I`m sorry if most of you already know the answer but, I`m kind of intrigued....when did the "umm...ever heard of Jordan Hasay" originate? Was it from when she was in high school?

Cain may have run almost as fast had she stayed on her high school team. So what's the point?

Good grief. Micro chat. Back to big picture. I really like Jordan and have felt she got buried in too many races on behalf of the Duck team. Imagine if she had gone to Colorado. Race less and build to the future. How many Oregon distance women have made an Olympic team? None in the last 4 or 5 Olympics.

But now I doubt there is a post college place for her in Colorado. I had hoped she might break out of the Oregon world. I think it could have been a new and exciting running opportunity. My guess in this arrangement is she won't improve.

You actually think she would want to run in Colorado of all places? How lame may your thinking be. Running in Boulder under Wetmore is only for Steeplechasers chasing their fantasy dream.

Jordan will do well with whoever she chooses to run with. She is a true champion and a role model to every young and adult athlete out there.

I think she (Hasay) is too much of a social creature to sign with Salazar. She's not really going to relate to the gals in his group, and I think she's more likely heading towards Shumacher's group. There she has Enfield, Goucher, and Flanagan, and I could see a possibility of Pappas signing with them to as a steeplechaser.

I also recall there being a lot of pictures and tweets floating around about all 4 of those gals eating with each other and I think Flanagan even tweeted something about a 'girl crush' with Hasay.

Either way, I think Hasay will break through her current plateau and be relatively competitive in the women's 10k.

Wetmore is a college coach. The only post-collegians he has coached have been Colorado grads. He justifies this, with good reason I think, on the grounds that it furthers the Colorado athletic program. I can't imagine he'd afree to coach a non-Colorado grad.

well said - makes sense to me

Hasay also has some relationship with Moser and Erdmann, two women with whom she could work out. On the other hand, most of Flanagan's and Goucher's training is aimed at the marathon.
