But seriously, you didn't even validate your question with a "isn't there a rule they must match?" or something like that. So your OP was pointless. I'm assuming that's why you brought up the question thinking they must match and my response to that is no they don't. I don't even know if relays must match in college but I definitely know that the same school doesn't have to have individual runners matching the same unis in an event.

The college rule is a bit ambiguous for relays and cross country. They must be similar enough that it is obvious they are on the same team. I think the judge would have dq'd the guys if they were on a relay team wearing those uniforms. We have had lively discussions about what qualifies as similar enough in my conference but fortunately it is always done before the meet so no one has been booted. Gotta love sweatin' the small stuff!

The State Finals in Track, 2012, Patrick Perrier and Alex Riba, both of O'Fallon, wore different uniforms in the 1600 and neither was disqualified. Example of no DQ in high school.
