Not every blue goes with every brown. A true navy doesn't go very well with English tan shoes. They just stick out too much. Oxblood and navy are classic together. Dark brown is also a fairly inoffensive choice with dark blue suits. In general, I'd say that grey suits are easier to match with brown shoes.
And an aside to the people defending black suits: You will have an almost impossible time locating a black suit at any reputable seller. You probably mistake charcoal and midnight navy for black, as they're almost indistinguishable. I don't want to say that black suits look bad, because that's very subjective, but I can say that, objectively, if you wear a black suit in the United States or in much of Europe, you will be judged. You may think the people judging you are just silly elitists, but they're the people who can get you a job, a sales account....If you want to be a rebel, do it on your own time. Nine to five, in most professions, is about conformity.
