At my high school, an A in the lowest level class was worth 4.0; an A in an average class was worth 4.67; and an A in an honors class was worth 5.33--there, a 4.2 would be on the low side of mediocre.

I'm sure the Cains have figured out that there are many thousands of applicants with perfect grades, perfect SAT scores, and multiple AP classes - but only one who will be the best middle distance runner in the NCAA for four years. However computed, her high school GPA is simply irrelevant.
First of all, anyone notice that Mary Cain led all US women (hs, college, and open) at the mile indoors this year?
As for NCAA titles, she might have won one, no way she could have doubled. She wouldn't have won the 5000m. She'd have a shot at the 800m, but so much can happen in an indoor 8 that I kind of doubt it.
Best chance would be mile or 3000m. If not for the heats of the mile, I think the mile would have been her best shot by quite a bit. I'd give the following odds (against):
800m: 5:1
mile: 5:3
3000m: 2:1
5000m: 8:1
For now I'd say D'Agostino, who ran 8:54.74 on an oversized track in Seattle on Jan 26, just a second off the top time this year by Chelsea Reilly. Cain ran 9:02.10 a couple weeks earlier on that same track.
All very good times. Would love to see women start running some really fast times and challenge some American records. They have a ways to go to approach Slaney's 8:25! Cain may have a shot in a few years. I wouldn't write Hasay off yet either.

It could be out of 4. Many schools, as well as the college board, consider an A a 4.0 and an A+ a 4.33. In that case a 4.2 would be impressive and within reason for someone who obviously has a lot of drive in what she does, even with her running, especially if it's weighted.
My school used a 100-point scale though so I might be mistaken here.

Emma's first Indoor mile in 3 years at Millrose. Just looking to run smart and get ready for NCAA. I think if her focus was to place higher she could have. Perhaps beat Cain, probably not Reid that night.
What if she ran 3k at NCAA. I think she wins.
Last year 3000 meter Steeple time 9:23. Add a second per jump over 35 jumps, puts her in sub 9:00 shape. She is far more fit than last year.

Mary looks like she could probably handle herself a little better than Emma...

Who would win the BEER MARATHON on a TRACK?
The follow-up relates to whether the winner would be lapped first before coming back to win.
