let's give her some credit, she is THAT GOOD. Regardless of age, she is an elite female.

Also, the professionals in the race are not bad runners. So people need to stop putting all these women down for getting beat by a "high school chic." It's not like they lost to some 4:50 high school miler.

MC is the real deal. Still, come on! 93 for the second 400. The only person in that field who deserves any credit is Cain. We wonder why people don't want to buy tickets to T&F.

Did any of you watch that race at all the whole field was jogging for the first half mile and Cain could have easily ran 4.30 or under if she wanted to. Her coach wanted her to run a tactical race which she did to a T. Really hope her and Baxter come to Oregon in 2 years. You have to train with the best to be the best. What better place to do that then Track Town U.S.A. Hopefully she watches the Oregon ladies own races from the 800 to 5 K at both the Indoors and Outdoors this year. She would go down as the best Lady Duck all time in Eugene which says alot.

Hips and body fat are not as prevelent in swimming as it is in T&F

Now if you tried to look at this race and reverse engineer what her proper pr in a setup race would be, based on the 58 close, how many would be daring enough to get 4:28? You'd have to factor in the altitude and jogging to 1k and then 1:31 (32/29/29). Does this result undermine some of the skepticism about projecting downward after a fast close on an extremely slow pace? very impressive work for cain.

Uceny did not fall by elbow you idiot, her leg was kicked. Uceny would fart Mary Cain out the back after one lap. She's good, but lets not get overboard here. And who mentioned weight training and good base building.... yea I'm sure she isn't already doing that!!!

I hope she goes pro out of high school, or after her freshman year of college at latest. I don't think the NCAA has much to offer her.

The NCAA dosen't have much to offer?..... Just look at what it took to make it the Indoor National Meet. And then factor in a coach who isn't Alberto, having to double at conferences to earn points, college load of work, and a social life.

I honestly think that race was one of the most exciting I've ever seen. Wé've all seen plenty of races where everyone hits their splits perfectly, why would you want every race to go that way? This race reminded me of how track cycling races play out (completely about getting into position until the last lap). Sure it ended anticlimactically once Cain gapped everyone, but the leadup was friggin intense, waiting to see what everyone was going to do.

NCAAgirl, I'm an NCAA athlete as well and I don't mean to be offensive with my statement. I did look at the indoor marks, and, correct me if I'm wrong, but Cain has run faster than any girl in the field this year. Assuming Cain continues any kind of progression, she will be head and shoulders above the competition in the NCAA. In my opinion, her long-term development would be better spent in the pro circuits than in the NCAA.

It would be similar to suggesting Tirunesh Dibaba would have benefited by enrolling in a NCAA school.

Unless Cain stops improving. Then the NCAA might be a better choice.
