It's been 17 months since his surgery. After his surgey he had interviews where he said he was focused on 'doing everything right' to be ready for London. If he's still afraid to run hard at this point, and he's only back to a collegiate level, there's not too much hope for him... Unless he's 'coming back' from another injury...
I hope he has the patience to keep improving from this. Based on how he got hurt in the first place, I kind of wonder if he does. I don't envy his position.
I think he did this race just to get a win under his belt and remember how to race. My buddy, who runs for Portland, told me that Chris was gonna try to hit 8:05. And look what he ran.

You have no idea how serious his injury was do you? It very easily could have been a career-ender. If he doesn't come back slowly, it very well might have been.

The fact that you are going to dinner with his teammates and being chummy with them is precisely why you have certain obvious biases towards certain runners and why it is ok on this site to be suspicious of drugs with one group but not others.
I had a feeling this was going on and your post confirms it. It perfectly explains why you and wejo were mean to Webb, why you made up the rivalry between Solinsky and Rupp (while making Rupp out to be the villain) and so on.
Keep the distance from the runners to maintain your objectivity.

Actually there is some truth to the first poster here. I do hope solinsky can keep coming back, because they have potentially 5 guys in that group who can go under 13:00 in the next couple of years with lomong, Derrick, solinsky, jäger and Fernandez. I think tegs time is over for it. Webb? Maybe six.
Rupp, farah and ritz could as well. I don't think we will see it for some time but centro will probably get there too and may be a medalist at 5000 years from now.

No way, Leer went through 3000 in 7:50 at Millrose. He's in much better shape than Solinsky.
