Stockholm is likely paying him more than Millrose could at this point. By the time Birmingham was out of the picture, Millrose's budget was likely all spent. And it makes sense for him to go after the record he doesn't have.

It's not impossible, but just now the pieces don't seem to be in place.
Of course, Rupp went hard over the 2nd mile on his own last year in his 2 mile AR, so maybe he can do a similar run here, so I don't completely rule it out. Grabbing a record from Bernie might be motivation enuff.
