Its actually spelled "milque-toast". People did use to read old stufff when they were in school. Obviously the youbnger geverations today aren't used to that. Nonetheless as long as the definition of the word is still undertood, at least that's a plus.

Why do people keep referring to this as an "interview." It's a column/opinion piece by Caitlin. There's no interview.

I dug it! Pretty personal and insightful. The fact that the Salazar's allowed her into their home says a lot about what kind of nice people they are. And their values seem very wholesome to improve the athletes as PEOPLE and not just work horses. Also her website is pretty cool!

That is a huge cop-out. A professional running coach absolutely should know how to counsel a runner with an eating disorder because of its high prevalence. Being a coach means much more than writing training plans. And for such a young and committed athlete, the coach MUST do all they can to facilitate the athlete's health because maintaining health directly determines long term success.

Did either of you actually bother to READ the article, or take not of it's content? Sports psychologist and medical care were available to her.

None of this stuff, coaching, sports medicine etc., are exact sciences.

There's a reason some athletes make it and some don't. Most of it is genetics and luck.

Who uses the term "cop-out" any longer?? It belongs with leisure suits.

The propaganda and censorship on this site is greatly admired by Yahoo and ESPN.

I was really fortunate to interview her recently (actually published the interview today on Salty Running). I have to say that she really is an amazing person. How many people could go through what she went through and come out the other side spending their time motivating others to achieve their running dreams when they can't achieve their own. I think she, more than most, redefines what success in running means.

At the end of the day, we are all very lucky to have the health, strength and mental fortitude to get out the door and enjoy the sport. Focusing solely on race times as a barometer of worth is really taking that for granted.

Some people are beyond that, I mean you have these girls going to professionals and they cant break them out of the cycle, I think its unrealistic to blame a coach. Besides any female runner that doesnt have some eating disorder isnt really trying.
