He'll be there in a few years. I hope he gets a chance in the 1500m also. I'd hate to be Kostre and to select a team like Ethiopia.

I'm sure Lunn slowed up at the end when he realized the standard was out of reach, but I hope he doesn't come up with more excuses laced with hype about his ability.
"I'm super fit....I split 1:53 and felt great....If I didn't get bumped....I had to change form because of my shoes...."
These are just in the last few weeks. I hope this time he just says, "I didn't have it, but I know I can do it next time."

Because "fans" like you can not tell the difference between what he says and what people say about him, his future interviews will be exactly what YOU deserve: "I want to thank God for all that I have. I want to thank the best fans in the world. I will try harder, I will give it my best shot, You must take it one race at a time.Thank you very much."
I love how Gruber repeatedly punks Lunn after all the doubters of Gruber several months ago, and supporters of Lunn. I remember an article on Lunn after he had ran 3:39 or something and he is all "not so happy with the time, but I'm the trials favorite and I know the time will come". How many times has he even gone under 3:40 this year? Three? Trials favorite my ass. Gruber!
Everyone join in now: Gruber! Gruber! Gruber! Gruber!
If Michael was in the race he would have won for sure. Even if he was in the A race. The only problem is that they wouldn't let him on the airplane with shoes that bomb so greatly. Get it? Shoe bomb. Hah, hah, hah!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. I sincerely hope that this post doesn't bomb. I might lose my standing as Michael's number one fan.
Be sure to watch Stockholm telecast (is there one in the US?), if for no other reason than to see Famiglietti's new mohawk haircut.
American track fans should actually hope that both Gruber and Lunn get the A standard, because they'd fare a lot better at the Olympics than Robison would
Will Jearl Miles-Clark medal? She surely has to be one of the fastest 800m runners with her sub 50 400m speed, I WOULD LIKE to see her run 1:55 REAL SOON (this year)! 17 year Augustine Choge keeps impressing me, 13:09 at that age points to great things in the future if he remains in the sport and healthy.
VIPAM
Vipam,
Get back on your meds...JM Clark will never run 1:55. But she certainly could medal.
As for the rest of you, both 1500m men's races were fast enough that if Lunn or Gruber were ever going to get the standard, they would have done it today. Neither of them goes.
Gruber has a realistic chance to get the A qualifier; often the first race or two in Europe (especially for a virtual novice) will be tough to run their fastest. He will be in 3 other races or so if needed and he has a good chance to improve his PR 1 second that he needs!!!!!!!!!!!
he will run 3:29.2 in his next race
I was excited to see him on the start list. It wouldbe more revealing if he was in the A race to see how he finished in a slower race. He can make the final if he selects.
I think that Ethiopia is still at the stage where everyone will get a chance. the top 10-12 men runners will make it.
and the rest may make the finals but dont have a chance to make a final.
I think that the distance runner fans in this forum.. will realize The BURNING SPEAR that we will come with in Athens...
It is the best distance running team ever...well maybe since the finns and norway...
Will not be surprised of a man and women sweep of the 10000
4 medals in the 5000 and
some 1500 medals.
1 marathon medal.
very close to 2nd place in medal count to russie.
