Flying, and he did a lot of the pacemaking himself. It was pretty cool when he ran his 8th or 9th lap in 59.50, people started getting excited.

Where's ventolin? Maybe he can show us what shape Bekele was in that day
Bekele definitely GOAT of long distance running. Cannot wait until he sets the marathon world record in a few years.

Unbelievable.
He could have run 12:32-33 that day. GOAT distance runner
I don't get your point. He ran close to 30 seconds every single 200 meters of the race until his kick. How would changing that result in anything good, much less 5 seconds off his WR?!
To think he didn't win the Olympic 5000 in Athens is mind bending.
What a majestic runner.
It's a christmas miracle!
What do you mean by "what was his 3 mile split"? Wouldn't it be about 12:15 or so?
I'm still blown away at how effortless bekeles stride is. When the pacer was cranking out laps at the front they looked like they were hauling, then bekele takes over and it doesn't look like he's traveling as fast as he is, but he is... very deceptive how much ground he covers with each step. Legs like pistons man.

Bekele's lap splits ranged from 62 to 57 seconds over the race. A Lil bit better pacing would have meant a faster time. Watch Daniel Komen's 3000m record. I think he runs every lap within a second of each other.
Anyone remember when Bekele gave an interview on radio or something. He said expect a WR in either the 5k, 10k, or both. Did he say that in 2009 or 2010?
I'd love to see him get back into that form.
I never thought I was going to able to see the full race. Thank you.
OP, you deserve to get laid for this.
Thanks a bunch.

Let's get $150 together for 15 minutes of Suzy with the OP.
huh....I expected this thread would be 20 pages long by now. The KB 5k WR video is like the lost ark for LRC, and it has just been found!!!!
The SFH thread is overshadowing this historic day, lol!
this definitely needs to be published on the front page
lol, 12:37 and he is hardly breathing. Blood doping is an amazing thing.

I know right! This is actually very front-page worthy and 100% running related, and it's getting almost no attention because of this SFH story! How do the brojos have time to put up a blackpage and link for SFH, but not even a mere mention of this?!!
Nobody cares about this crap. He is just the most unbelievably doped up of a bunch of Africans who were all unbelievably doped up. pure crap.

You young whipper snappers could learn a thing or two from witnessing his leg speed velocity.
