Why is Rolling Rock the best beer of all time?!

I live in Ohio and can vouch for original Genesee but havn't seen that in stores here since 1990.

I recall the tv commercials for Genesee, "Geneseeing is believing".

Lots of brews in PA back in the 70's. I moved to Wisconsin in the mid 1980's and that compared. I liked Point, from Steven's Point the home of Suzy Favor Hamilton and Chris Solinsky.

Were it not for Bell's Oberon the initial poster would still not be correct

As Ho de do already said, this beer was respected when it was brewed in the clear waters of Latrobe and not the dirty jersey shore. Now the beer is shit.

On a side note, before Anheuser Busch ruined the beer, The Rolling Rock 5 mile run was an awesome 4th of July race that ended at the brewery with free beer and a Bruce Springsteen tribute band. Race was fast and competitive too.

My thoughts are that it is horrible and makes farts that smell worse than any road kill I have ever encountered on a July 18miler

If you are gonna drink swill from that part of the world. You should definitely drink Genny. Or if you really want a niche swill brew go with Straub of St Mary's pa. That's the one that all the diabetic olden up there are allowed to drink.

I can tell you that it was a staple of the UMass Amherst track team in the late 70s.

I remember downing my weight in RR after a mile PR in a dual meet in '77...

I am wondering how the cross country course went around the brewery because the neighborhood around the brewery has been developed for decades and the only thing that could possibly make a course is a park across from the brewery next the river with nothing more than a half mile loop. I know they certainly don't run there now.

On another note, my cousin was on Latrobe's girls state championship team a few years ago.

Both Tecate and Modelo are far cleaner on the finish than RR, which leaves a goat piss aura in its wake. Only worse beer on the planet is Lionshead.

I see you're hating on beer snobbery. I get it if someone is being a douche, but I swear to God all of the beers I just listed above taste the same. Honest to God, they do.

At least Pyramid's beers taste like something. OK, you want to go with macrobrews? At least Guinness, Smithwick's, Blue Moon, Shock Top, Sam Adams, all of Sam's microbrews, Bass, Newcastle...drawing a blank on others, but at least these taste like something.

If you're in California you have so many good options on the West Coast. Try them out man. You can get Boont Amber Ale or Fat Tire on tap most places. Those at least have a taste to them.

As a college kid into graphics, I thought that long neck green bottle with the screen printing on it was incredibly cool.

I'm not saying any of those beers are "good", but if you think they taste the same, I feel sorry for you. I bet everything tastes like chicken too.

Unless things have changed a lot since I drank cheap beer, this is far from correct. RR was THE beer at all the 'hip' parties in the 90s.

Side note, being in Canada I had loaded up on RR everytime I could but now it is sold in Canada and I have to say it lost some of its mystique.

I look in the fridge and see Bud Light, and I quip: "You don't have any beer, dad."

I guess it coulda been RR, too.
