Backlash against NYC marathon shifts to runners

Oh no no no! Nice try, but many of the complainers in those Twitter posts were upset about stuff like cops being used that should be helping people, medical personnel as well, water & food given to runners when people don't have water/elec/food, and the generators when people don't have power. Not to mention an overall feeling of "people are suffering, and all attention and resources should be focused on THAT".

If any of those other sporting events, concerts, etc that are going forward use a single a) cop; b) medical person; c) have water/food/concessions; or d) any kind of supplemental power generation then they (and you) don't have a f*cking leg to stand on. Hypocrite.

Sorry, but anyone in NYC who has access to Twitter and time to bitch on it isn't suffering. So what they don't have power. Grow a pair and enjoy the sunlight.

Exactly. I love the article about the woman who didn't have power, so started a facebook page to complain & try to shut down the marathon that attracted 5000+ people. I would love to talk to this woman to learn how much of her time has been spent helping others/herself, and how much of her time has been spent on her smartphone & facebook.

At least now runner #37245 will be able to spend Sunday morning at her residence getting her electricity back on. Oh, wait...

Millions are being raised by runners in this race for charity, good job the sponsors didn't ask for it back.

I assume they are not going to watch sports this weekend, either turn off the power in their homes and send the money to the relief fund.

When things have calmed down, I would love to see someone find out the source of those tweets. I'm guessing it's not a bunch of folks without food and lights. I would love even more to prove they came from News Corp and get the Feds after them for inciting violence.

Guys, use common sense. It's pretty damned obvious that harassing and throwing things at passing runners and blaming them for Sandy WILL bring back the power, solve the food issues, and clean up the streets. It's an obvious solution to the problem, how can you not see that?

I don't get it. Thousands of people who don't get to run the race they paid $260 to enter, who are dropping thousands of dollars into the NY economy, who lost their hotel rooms, who are stuck in a city that apparently hates them...how are they hurting NY again????

That collection of Tweets is utterly disgusting. All those stuck up, entitled NYC 'natives' truly feel POWERFUL on twitter. Let me see any one of them physically show up, and throw shit at someone running at 8am tomorrow morning, seriously, let me see it. Maybe one person of the hundreds of tweets and facebook messages would actually do it, and that guy is off his rocker anyway.

Yes, I absolutely understand that true damage and chaos does exist in NYC and surrounding areas. I have had my home destroyed years ago in a very similar matter, and it changed me forever, still I feel this way right now.

You know, I visit NYC very frequently, spend a week there every few months, and the residents are really starting to get to me. Literally every person there feels trendy and exhibits the type of personality that would LOVE to bandwagon a mass-hate of the NYC marathon, yet, if they didn't hear about the race until after it took place they would say "Oh, okay. cool. i don't care, big deal"
