Rebar is buried within concrete strengthening from the inside out. Tape is applied to the outside of glass and provides no strengthening effect. Thanks for trying.
Only on letsrun could someone trying to help out be chastised so much.
If something goes through your window thats taped up you will have large pointy shanks of glass coming at you. Still dangerous w/o tape but little shards won't do as much damage. Its common knowledge down here in FL (from all the hurricane activity) to NOT tape up windows.

Nobody is claiming that the tape strengthens the glass. The claim all along has been that the tape helps to keep shards of glass from flying when the glass breaks. If you're going to argue, argue against a claim that was actually made.
The tape is not only to hold together windows. It is to prevent panicked birds from flying through the window, and to prevent panicked humans from trying to jump out the window.
The pattern of taping used can also provide others a better understanding of one's personality. If you tape your window with a simple "X" it indicates you are practical. If you tape multiple windows with an alternating pattern of "X" and "O" it indicates you are affectionate, symbolically providing hugs and kisses. If you tape three windows in a row with a pattern of "X" it indicates that you will likely be engaging in some sexual behaviors during the storm. If you tape windows with a "+" it indicates you are mathematically minded.
I am sure others would like to continue listing the patterns you can tape windows with and how they represent one's personality.

The poster said, "Clearly nobody on here realizes what rebar does for concrete." Since rebar is used to strengthen concrete, he was inferring that tape does the same.
Try to keep up.

You should learn the difference between "infer" and "imply." This might help you to avoid looking dumb in the future.
From Merriam-Webster...
infer...to point out; indicate....suggest
The poster used the word in an acceptable context.
