Marla Runyan Should Give Up Her 1500m Spot and Intimidation at the Trials

I am sure the USATF's intent wasn't to let some crazed message board entrepreneurs pressure those into "honorably" removing themselves from their slots. Distance running is a mess in this country when we've got Michael Bautista thinking he's a part of the process, when he couldn't explain the process better than a four-year-old could.

Saying "I think he should consider in light of his current form giving up his place" would be expressing an opinion, getting people to vote against a guy NOT a rule is a step to far. Why the need to ask those who could possibly go in multiple events to step aside? The Olympics are not a gift. If you're good enough to make it in several events, then more power to you. Survival of the fittest ONLY should be the mantra. Marla Runyan has put herself in the position she's in, and so SHE alone should decide what to do - she has earned that right and that power.

Anyway, at least you didn't start an internet petition. I'll not slam you for giving an opinion.

I agree with you 100%. The whole idea of Luchini, and Runyan giving up their spots is simply retarded.

Maybe this means that Wejo and Rojo have always had excellent races everytime they compete? They expect everyone to follow suit. Are they some sort of majestic beings that we all wish we could be? What gives them the right to judge and throw out stupid a$$ petitions?

Give these two incredible classy athletes a break for God sakes. They have worked just as hard as everyone else, and deserve to have a bad day just like anyone else. Stop being so harsh and have a heart.

Also, I had to laugh about the Luchini/Mafia connection. Louie is from a very small town in Northern Maine, unfortunately I don't think Wejo has to worry about that.

Luchini went to Stanford, Asmerom went to Cal.
