Sounds like you're going to be fine. You're aware of the situation and giving it some thought...that puts you in a good position.
As long as your ego can handle being with them for an hour without needing to try and drop them, it will be good. I was a little bit humbled at about mile 8 with Kim when she nonchalantly looked over and asked if we had slowed down. Between ragged breaths I told her the pace felt pretty fast to me!
Kim has mentioned that guys have helped her stay on pace in low key (for her) races and I have also heard locals like Heidi Westover say that she has enjoyed working with guys in races.
