Alright I'm calling it now - after this season, Centro and Driouch are the future of the 1500m. Kiprop and Kiplagat are going to find themselves the next best thing.

Hmmm, I see you have a basic failure for understanding track and competition. Rupp = failure for the rest of 2012. He needs to hang up the shoes and prepare for 2013.

I'm looking forward to what he can do in the future, as well as 5k as he gets a few years older. I would like to see Centrowitz break 3:30, as well as run sub 1:45.

that's funny, didn't see him drop out of the 5k at the Olympics, even though he was falling back pretty badly.

no sense in finishing a race like this if he was hurting. Look what happened to Solinsky when he tried to race/train through his hamstring issue.

no reason for invective. wr 1500m pace is about 1:49.9/800m.

wr mile pace is 1:51.565/880y. they were quite close to wr pace, particularly considering that the kick was still to come and would likely quicken the pace. But the pacemakers were bad, or at least, nobody wanted to go 54/151 to keep up with them and they failed to adjust at all like Scherer does.

Great race for Centrowitz with the big pr and he would have had the win if he hadn't had to go so wide at the end. With the better pr's, he may have more confidence to put himself in position for the win in the future. He definitely looked capable of going 3:30 and likely would have in one of those Kiprop 3:28/29 races. He looks awfully good at this stage after a few healthy months and just put himself high up on the all time U.S. list .03 behind DK.

LOL no. Centro has no guts, he's content to run in 6-7th place the entire race and then sprint like mad to get 3rd/4th at the end. I don't see him breaking 3:30 anytime soon, probably not ever.

Mak-Daddy will be the top 1500 guy for the next couple of years with Driouch close behind. Driouch is a fearless competitor, I can see him running as fast as el G someday.

He was the high school national champ in the 2 mile and his dad was the American record holder in the 5000... he definitely has a 1500/5000 pedigree.

Rupp still in competition-outfit at warm-up running laps in high pace. Doesn't seem to make any sense.

Just wasn't Rupp's day, 5000m AR is going down!

Hurting is in the mind. Rupp has dropped out more often than he has stuck with a bad race to the end. Mental toughness is what Rupp needs to work on. He needs to do more of what he did in the Oly 5k.

Manzano, good race or bad, sticks with it.

Centro wins a US Championship and a World Championship Bronze his last year of college, then his first year as a pro, while recovering from surgery, places 4th at the Olympics, nearly wins a diamond league event, runs 3:31 to become the 9th fastest American in history...yet its not good enough? And he won't get even better over the next few years?

I don't understand how people can act so disappointed with the huge steps American track and field has made in just the last four years. We've got different Americans winning medals at every major championship, we have MULTIPLE sub 13 guys, MULTIPLE sub 27 guys, multiple training groups that are producing major global competitors, and you're all still whinning? Track hasn't been nearly this good since the 60s and 70s.

Centro is definitely a stud. He will have a real shot to break the AR in the next few years if Salazar doesn't ruin him.

I am enjoying following American distance running so much right now! Some of you should consider trying the same.
