The folks at Ironman signed onto the WADA code.

There are probably a few triathlons that are not sanctioned by ITU or USA Triathlon. Lance would be free to compete in those although that raises issues for other racers.

Boo to the USADA!!! Lance is manking triathlon (long course stuff) exciting and fun to follow. I was anxious to see how we would do in France and in Kona.

I support Lance.

USADA had to wait for the Feds to finish up. Feds send letter to USADA, USADA will usually do what they are told. Therefore the long delay. Very sure it was not their ideal scenerio to wait this long. But this is a very good thing, long overdue. Two Texas Phonies, Armstrong and Clemens, finally having to face justice. Good stuff!

I agree with this. I have never cared for Armstrong and never spoken up for him, but this is a bogus move by the USADA. As far as I'm concerned it's just another nail in their coffin, and the coffin of the whole drug testing/benefits farce. The sooner that all drug testing and promotions are done away with, the better.

I used to be a big fan. I also used to believe that negative tests really meant something. I have a much more cynical view of doping now and I really believe that Lance was definitely on EPO, HGH, and testosterone, etc. Glad this is happening and if he's brought down, it will send a message that USADA doesn't care how famous you are, it will seek justice.

Again, nothing to see here. If Ironman (Kona) is testing per WADA standards, AND is allowing USADA access to the testing results, then who cares?

The U.S. ADA will have brand-spanking-new, freely-given, Lance Armstrong blood sample after Kona. Wow. The US ADA could even demand a gallon of Armstrong's blood to make sure they have enough samples to test for the next several hundred years. They will find something, someday, maybe with a test yet to be invented.

Okay, why would the USADA give up the opportunity to retest a willing Armstrong? All they have to do is let him compete at Kona.

I have absolutely no faith in the expert USADA Attorneys (CEO and General Counsel) of they are not smart enough to know to wait until after Kona to test Armstrong. Instead they stupidly try to ban him before.

What this smells of is maximizing litigation income for attorneys, rather than simply waiting to see if the is anything to find (less attorney profit to be made).

So, I think we are in agreement that Lance should be allowed to compete in Kona (because that is exciting) and should also be prosecuted for the cheating.

I can't speak for Galen Rupp but there is nothing to suggest Kara Goucher has ever doped.

Yes, and it would be the most scrutinized blood sample test ever. I fully expect Armstrong to demand, and he should be granted, that an entity other than the USADA manage the blood sample.

Every time the sample was handled multiple people would witness it from both sides, plus an impartial third party. At least three independent tests would be run by entirely separate independent labs. Parties from all sides would be at every single test: they would sleep with the sample.

The USADA will never agree to such a scenario, as above. The reason is simple. If nothing was found the credibility of the USADA would be damaged. Oops, the USADA test had a problem. That cannot be allowed to happen.

Folks what it boils down to is that all it takes is for a competent chemist to alter a PED by one molecule which

results in un-detection. Hence designer performance enhancing

drug. But it is a sad day for Lance, even though he was kind of cocky he did a lot of good for his cancer causes. Do you love Lance? Deep deep down inside I think you do?

A competent chemist? My fiance is a chemist for a major pharmaceutical company: Teva the number one generic drug maker in the world.

An chemist would could alter only one molecule at a time would be the richest person on the planet.

Chemistry discovers are often made by accident. Trying several different mixtures to get a result and improve the end product. This refinement is hit-and-miss.

My impression of the situation is that there wasn't enough evidence for the justice department to bring charges, so they turn everything over to an organization that requires less evidence to convict. Is this accurate?

If so, I'm not a fan of the move.
