I'm actually not being sarcastic at all. I was really disappointed in the overall race and not really impressed by rupp at all. I mean he probably closed in 59ish which is not a medal caliber kick. At the Olympics guys like farad, the Kenyans and Ethiopians will be able to close in 53-54 running around 13min pace, rupp just isn't good enough. Solinsly still has what 3-4 seconds on rupp and has broken 13 several times. Rupp just isn't an impressive runner, he's a dweeb

"Reach the next level..."????? Are you really that crazy (even if you are trolling)??? What, please explain, is the next level? 3:34 for 1500, 12:59 for 5000, 26:48 for 10,000. Is there a whole other level of runners out there that make Rupp look like a school boy? STFU

12:58.9 and outkicks K Bekele. Maybe now we can get rid of Cliffy Clavin?
Actually, Bekele was well off the pace with 20o to go and caught the second Kenyan and made-up ground on Galen
Chelanga 13:09 wasn't he the guy that took a tumble?

Rupp isn't peaking yet so we shouldn't expect him to drop a 54 last lap in a race like this. Realistically, Rupp won't beat Farah at the Olympics, but silver looks very possible.
nice run
GO GALEN!
Rupp didn't look impressive because no one looks impressive without thinking about context. It's the beginning of June and he broke 13 minutes, beat all but one Kenyan, and beat KENENISA BEKELE. He didn't have that "medal caliber kick" because he's still training you asshat.

Maybe, but what's amazing is that Ritz still has the better 5000 PR. I don't say this by way of criticism of Rupp, but praise of Ritz. In fact, Ritz's PR is faster than Farah ran today.
WVRunner wrote:Rupp is right there now. He continues to progress and isn't done. I think he may get the American Record this season.
Yes, except Ritz could probably not go out and run his PR next week.
Rupp could go out and run his PR next week.
Also, Rupp didn't quite have his kick from late last season... When he gets closer to the games he'll have a better kick, and be able to run faster times...

Actually Rupp was following Bekele for the majority of the race but beat him quite handily over the final 600m.
Kenny B is not looking like a medal contender, but Rupp is.
Can some kind soul post the results or the link to it please?
Nice job, Mandragon. You posted something so idiotic that everyone assumed you must be joking, then proudly clarified that you weren't.
First American to break 13 on American soil, I believe, and he left a bunch of medalists in his wake, but nothing impressive about that...

Sarcasm?
No it was another Kenyan.

I agree.
I can't see how this race doesn't enhance Rupp's chances of a medal in London. Bekele looked awful.
NO way in hell is silver possible, he was third today after getting his ass kicked like usual the last 400 and everyone knows Bekele as well as 3 or 4 other Africans will be rolling for the Olympics. My bet is rupp for about 5th on a perfect day and race with 7th/8th a typical performance

Tricked you!

He doesn't have to look like a medal contender now. But take a step back for a second. The WR holder just ran 13:01. He ran a 7:40 3K a few weeks ago, which probably predicts what, like a 13:20? He is really improving, and quickly. Everyone else in the OG 5000 needs to be very wary of Bekele! (If he runs it, that is, he might just opt for the 10,000.)
