does anyone really care what this lying cheat has to say? he is probably the biggest cheat and liar in sport history. this leads to a good question: who are the biggest cheats in the history of sports: i'd put FloJo, Lance, and Roger Clemens at the top of my list. lets se if we can come up with the top 10 liars and cheats in sport history.

You named off only 1 possible cheat in that list, If LA was a cheater, his teammates would have ousted him years ago, not just recently after he has long since retired.

FloJo would have almost certainly been accused by now if she'd have been cheating at all, yet for whatever reason, hasn't and that was a time when a lot of people were pointing the finger.

Roger Clemens is probably the most likely, even though he plays a sport that you can play for upwards 23 years if you produce a good rookie season.

You guys have missed many key points. When he ran his 246 and 250 marathons he was not training seriously. He was at 175 lbs. My guess is he is 155-160 now based on how lean he is. He just ran a 1:15 after riding 56 miles in 2:01!!! or almost 28 mph. That is crazy fast for a half ironman. that is sick! he easily runs a 110-112 half fresh.

The 2:01 bike for 56 miles is absolutely ridiculous. Armstrong will absolutely crush everyone on the bike in a HIM or IM.

It will take a long time to reel him in. Some of the top tri guys may well kill themselves trying. They will wonder during the run, "Where the hell is Armstrong?" He might be 15 minutes or more ahead of them in a full IM. That would mean the top guys will have to run 30 to 45 seconds faster "per mile" to catch him.

Lance has also said he never used performance enhancing drugs. Can't believe anything he says.

And yes, to a real triathlete, an Ironman is 140.6 (or an individual who has completed an event of 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, and 26.2-mile run, in less than 17 hours). A 70.3 is a Half Ironman. Anyone who has not done the full 140.6 and calls him/herself an "Ironman" is a poser.

He will certainly crush the bike. That should go without saying. It did long before this 2:01.

He won't be a problem for the elites in Kona, though. They will be told in T2 how much they have to make up, and all they have to do is divide that by 26. Even if it IS 15 minutes, that just means they need to do a safe 2:45 - Lance ain't breaking 3:00.

More likely he panics, goes out in 1:25 and ends up in 3:15...

Thinking you can hold the pace and actually doing it are two different things. Although, I suspect if he races another marathon he will have a big PR, especially on a fast course... Which is unfortunate for me because a long term goal of mine has been to beat his marathon PR (Yes, I know how pathetic of a goal this is).

Yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there. See, as oer the WTC, there is an event series called Ironman 70.3 and so completing such a race makes one an Ironman finisher or an Ironman.

Nice try brother - NYRR measures its Marathon in miles and not in km.

In running it is very clear - a Marathon is a Marathon and a Half Marathon is a Half Marathon.

But in Triathlon, according to the rulebook, Ironman 70.3 is not considered a half Ironman but a "full 70.3 Ironman".

Therefore I will continue to be proud to be an Ironman and will not stop to mention this.
