how fast was lewis johnson?
I dont know his PR but he ran 1:47 in 1987 to make the finals at NCAAs and ran mid 1:47 in the finals. But he was a rabbit on the Euro circuit for a number of years.
Scherer is a good rabbit. He can maintain his speed and doesn't die at the 400. Unlike some other knuckleheads he exits to the right instead of stepping to the inside. He took the Shanghai field through 400 in 50.48 but no one followed him.

Is he still on the circuit this year?
Scherer should of converted to 400 hurdles after college and he would of been running 47.80 to 48.25 by now.
He played around with the 400 IH's in 2003
I heard requested pace was 50.0 today - Scherer took it through in 49.97.
Old-timers, has there ever been a rabbit as consistent?
The way he's built he could have plowed every stick and still run sub-48. He certainly makes an excellent windbreak.
Seem it first hand in Eugene wrote:

Does anyone know where he trains? How hard he is training now?
He has no coach and trains by himself. Trained with 1:46.00 guy Wieczorek last year. Looks like he's on the adidas GP start list too with Rudisha and Kaki and no Tangui...
Matt has been in Eugene as of late. It's another thing they do well there.
The guy is obviously in good shape. What could be run for 800m right now? Good enough to make the trials field? He could probably time trial a 1:46-1:47 pretty easy.
Does anyone know if Scherer is planning to go to Europe for the post-season races? After NYC any two-lap fan is gonna expect Rudisha+Scherer+August/Sept+a few shots = 1:40.x
Let's just hope he doesnt go back to the 11.0-12.5-13.0-14.5-drop out Tangui style...

Wow I hope you never write another blog. That was a piece of crap. You must be 8 years old because it read like a 3rd grader wrote it.
He hit 49.55 when asked for 49.5 the other day. So steady.
all hail the GOATRabbit
Yes, Scherer has just one more European race on his schedule. He will be pacing a race in Birmingham, England after the Olympics.
so how much MONEY did Matt make as rabbit..per race, career, etc..???

In such a top heavy sport as track, big money goes to big names for big performances. A good rabbit ensures those big names do what the fans came to see them do. I have to imagine that what he brings to the table is worth far more than at least the bottom half of the field, maybe more. What's worth more to the DL for an 800; a guy who drops the winner from 1:43 low to 1:42 high, or "just another" 1:46 guy? It's a no brainer.
