It's already done.
BTW, Kingdom wears enough gold around his neck to buy a small country. Surely he can afford $30?
A Pitt guy to boot.
what a jerk. Run at the Masters Nationals and shut up.
lets take up a collection and mail it to the poor bastard so he can make his way to the Trials...that is should he get in

Good idea. Lets do it, really! It will be great publicity for him, don't you think?
it;s very very SAD that many people in this forum thinks that Kingdom is a BASTARD !!
How many people do you know have won Olympic medals.
Freedom of speech has made people to bocome STUPID I mean Malmo and his friends.

winning an olympic medal does not preempt anyone from being a bastard.
instead of giving himself a chance to get to the trials, kingdom left his fate to the gods because of $30. now that's STUPID.
ps - your parents know you've been using their computer, even though they said no

Well put. With sentences like that flowing from your keyboard, nobody can accuse you of "bocoming" stupid.
I find it incredible that he expects a free entry based on who he is or what he has done. That goes for anyone. We need more people giving back to the sport that is falling apart, not taking from it. What Roger should have said is I would like to come to your meet and I will conduct a free hurdling clinic for all athletes that are interested and is there anything else that I could do to help make your event better. I am sure that the meet probably loses money and I have no problem paying $30 to insure that small meets like this are able to continue. Remember these are the grass roots events that got most of us started in the sport.

Who said Roger Kingdom is a bastard? Not me. He's a CHEAP BASTARD.
You have to look at who is missing out the most in this situation.
Roger Kingdom- who has run all over world, picking up 2 Olympic Gold medals and a world record, doesn't get to line up in this all comers meet. May or may not have knocked a couple of hundreths of a second off of his season's best (but not come close to his still standing American Record)
The Event- which for no cost at all could have showcased one of the greatest hurdlers of all time who used to require thousands of dollars to appear in most any meet.
I should point out, though, that Roger Kingdom is now no longer allowed to have dinner with Malmo. Surely a big loss for Roger.
It sounds like anyone can have dinner with Roger, as long as they are willing to pick up the tab.
You're right toro, we all owe Roger Kingdom a debt of gratitude. Why haven't you stepped up to the plate and offered to pay Kingdom's entry fees?

For "one of the greatest hurdlers of all time who used to require thousands of dollars to appear in most any meet," the going rate these days is apparently less than $30. I hope Kingdom wasn't planning to fund his retirement with appearance fees at all-comers meets.

Thing is Tinman, I'm serious about it. If Kingman has the chutzpah to claim that a meet promoter (in the loosest of terms) is being petty, I have put him on notice: I'll pay the goddamn entry fees for him.
I just had a brilliant idea. I am going to organize a track and field meet that has an entry fee of $100,000. Then I am going to invite Roger Kingdom to take part, and I'll be sure to let him know he can run at no charge since someone has agreed to pay his entry fee.
Anybody want to jump in and help organize a series of meets?
I love our sport. People are so eager to bash it's stars.
Michael Jordan is a has been but I am sure he doesn't have to pay for ... well anything.
Kingdom lost nothing in this situation. The athletes, the fans and the meet director lost the opportunity to witness a living legend in action. Even if he is a step slower.
He lost a good qualifying opportunity and the respect of almost all track fans.
