drama queen?
HAHAHAHAHA!
"Threw his whole body into me"???
"I was in midair"???
Having watched the video, which looks nothing like this, the only conclusion I can make from his words is that Solinsky is indeed a drama queen.
Solinsky might be big for a runner, but comments like this show that on the inside is his just another whiny little b!tch. (Who is probably now going to be mentally owned every time Alamirew steps on the track with him.)
solinsky is not a blue collar runner he is a yippy runner.
WAYTAB= what are you talking about brother but who whould want to call Chris Solinsky their brother so maybe that b stands for somethine else.
Maybe CS should just run and STFU. He's the running world's poster boy for a big muscular stud (despite being tiny) yet makes it sound like Ray Lewis just came through the line and blew him up. Please. Just go away.
I hope Tim Nelson, Bobby Curtis, Matt Tegenkamp, and any other American who was close to 27:20 break the 27 minute barrier and the 13 minute barrier- just to knock Chris "oh no they broke my" Solinsky down the U.S all-time list. With his ego it would hurt to be out of commission and have your best performances be surpassed by several Americans. Maybe that would humble Chris alittle bit!
Man, this guy runs under 27 and runs 12:5x a few times and he still gets hate like this. Amazing.
How fast he runs isn't as important when he speaking about the determination and will of athletes who have been either the number 1 or 2 distance running country over the last two decades. Yes he's run sub 13 and sub 27; however, what is his best World or Olympic finish? It's 12th so how can he speak about the Kenyans not wanting to hurt the last 1000m when he was never around long enough to make them hurt and then he won't even be at this Olympics to show us what he's talking about...SHUT UP Chris PLEASE!

Great runner, but should keep his mouth shut. Sadly he's hurt so many interviewers looking for quotes.
Cam Levins, by comparison, simply competes hard and lets his running do the talking.
He's is more an incredible runner/talent but haven't yet proven he can be a great competitor in International Championships. I like Cam Levins so far as he does let his running do the talking and not his mouth just like Vivian Cherioyut, Tirunesh Dibaba, and Bernard Lagat.

I don't know what you're talking about. He doesn't come across bad in interviews.
He should leave all the pointless talking to us geniuses on message boards since we are the ones who know what it is like to race and compete against the best in the world. I mean who the hell does he think he is trying to come up with a race strategy without consulting us first?

It's not that he comes across badly (well groomed, well spoken), but his mouth does seem to runneth over. It has alreay been alluded to here, but to imply that the East Africans don't want to hurt well out from the finish shows an ignorance for the history of our sport.
I wonder if Solinsky knows about Filbert Bayi - he of the 51/52 first 1500/mile lap. What about John Ngugi's early gold-winning 5000m surge in Seoul? And is he aware of Kip Keino's "catch me if you can" tactic?
In light of Solinsky's statement, it seems not.
Used to love Solinsky, but God he's a baby. He loves to talk about how he's going hunting and act like he's this manly man in a world of wussy distance runners, but it seems like he's just a p*ss after all. His explanation of what happened in that race is absolutely hilarious. So inaccurate and dramatic. I bet he's actually convinced himself that's what happened. The alternative would be to accept that his view of himself is false. Dude needs to stick to running, focus, not worry about the past, and man up in races. People fall and keep running all the time. Solinsky didn't even fall.

It is not clear that Alamirew even touched Solinksy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j93Ooo6DOncOn another note, nobody likes to hurt from more than 1000 meters out, and the comment from Solinsky is really stupid. Plenty of East Africans have won from the front, from Ngugi to Ismael Kirui.
Winning from the front does not equal hurting from more than 1K out.
That comment from you is really stupid.
that's not a global view....that's a narrow view.

Count down to a c.levins let-down that results in a "hero-to-zero" thread: 5, 4, 3,,,
Sol is a former AR holder and sub-13 talent who has hit a rough patch but sounds like he is focused on coming back from his serious injury. The over-analysis of a couple quotes in this thread speaks to the myopic perspective of some of the commenters.
I will say only one thing:
I TOLD YOU SO.

, and many other threads.

He was probably just talking about how in a lot of races on the circuit the pace lags a bit in the latter stages of the race before picking up again towards the end.
Sure, you could interpret is as "the Kenyans are p*ssies", but I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean that.
I have lost so much respect for Solinsky in the last few months. Makes one appreciate Galen Rupp and Bob Kennedy more.
