Never broke 60 (probably could have but not by much) and ran 4:19.

I didn't stick with the team for long. I was too lazy to train properly. When I ran the 58 I thought I was going to die; never again. The mile was not as horrible an experience.
Our school had one outstanding miler (state champion) and a great quarter (2nd place State 440) at the same time. It was really those two guys who had some natural talent who made the team very good. The coach was lucky to have them. After they left the track team was so so.
There must be women runners who ran faster than I did for both distance. No big deal.
It depends on the person... in my first time trial of the season, off of 3 months of no training, I ran 54 and 2:09. I probably could have gone 4:58 at that same time, but I had the flu.
