The Jamaicans have stopped winning Golds for Canada and Great Britain and started winning Golds for Jamaica.
A native born Jamaican has finished first in 4 of the last 6 Olympic 100m finals and are shooting for 5 of 7 this year.

Yup.
Vilified as he was, Charlie was the best sprint coach in the country and people being afraid to associate with him resulted in his knowledge mostly dying with him.
Also, I forgot to add that the way Athletics Canada squanders their money is obscene. Guess how much money our national relay coach was given to develop a squad...
Toronto has UofT??? York that's always busy and pretty poor condition compared to Armory, Boston, or most tracks in the US, and Variety Village???.....Someone should build a decent track

Not exactly.
Charlie was very generous with that knowledge. He had a pretty active forum and freely gave his expert knowledge. I know that I asked lots of questions and got a lot of answers. And that knowledge will live on in the hands of the people who were wise enough to pay attention. You didn't have to take any position on the drug issue (banned on his site) to benefit from his knowledge.

OK, I'll bite...how much?
I truly think these guys are clean and track is as dirty as cycling or pro football. Let's face it the skills of sprinting are hard to master but it isn't golf or baseball. PED's put you over the top when the skill gap is minimal. Too many of these juniors like Barnett aren't developing while other countries like Jamaica virtually all are developing and the difference isn't coaching as every coach would be Jamaica learning what Mills is "teaching" Bolt.
Some pretty longstanding Canadian T&F records. Two of the relay records were set in Montreal '76.
I guess swimming and hitting people with sticks are bigger draws.

You know, I just looked at Wikipedia and found out that in the 2006 census, you are absolutely correct--2.5% of the population self-reported as "black"--rising as a percentage, but still only 2.5%, up from 2.01% ten years earlier in 1996.
Yes, that's low, and I was initially surprised, but I was wrong in my surprise.
I figured that the GTA was 10% black, and that it represented 30% of Canada's population, which would give 3% black, which is exactly what it would be in 2016 given that the continued rate of increase was maintained.
As a rough calculation, that gives 3% x 30 million, or 900,000.
Of that, say only 50% are male, and of that, only a fraction are between the ages of 18-34.
Having admitted poor judgment, I will switch to this: Why do the British suck so badly?!
In the UK Census of 2001, 565,876 people classified themselves in the category 'Black Caribbean', amounting to around 1 per cent of the total population.
Today over 1 million people in Britain are classified as "mixed race" and one in 10 children in the UK lives in a mixed race or multiple heritage family.
Maybe the genes are being diluted.

Two words: Ryan Bailey. Doesn't exactly look like a guy that is 100% of west African origin, now does he? And if you look at the facial characteristics of the other cream of the crop of Black American talent like Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin, they don't express the West African phenotype as much as they "should". In fact, it is wholly possible both of them could have up to 30% non-black heritage.

Bailey definitely looks mixed race or if he has at least significant admixture. However Gay or Gatlin are definitely reminiscent of West African features unless, you have a very stereotyped idea of what a west african should look. I can definitely say for having travelled in these part of the world that while Bailey would stand out, neither Gay or Gatlin would look out of place (your 30 % ar far fetched IMHO). Phenotypes vaary from Senegal to Nigeria...
eh any chance that they doped

You also have a problem of no professional coaches that aren't associated with a university. I don't think a university coach is going to blow his career by linking a runner up with PED dealers who know how to beat the tests. With track as dirty as the other pro sports clean runners just aren't able to compete with drugged runners.

Nice try. Galea treated Bailey after he ruptured his Achilles in 1998, his career was essentially over.

Vancouver's black population is less than one percent. It would be shock if Vancouver produced a great sprinter. And this is Canada's third largest city.
Esmie grew up in Toronto.

Yep, sure. Sudbury. It's all the same to Vancouver.
wasn't Brent McFarlane involved with the sprinters
