if '08 gold was peak shape off his life, i do reckon he had close to a 50/50 shot of the 10k wr just off his M training
we didn't just lose the greatest M'er in history, we lost a guy who also was possibly in 10k wr shape that day...
Wanjiru very often raced without using brain
when he raced KB he went through halfway in 13:10 (better than his "PB" of 13:12) and lost some seconds in the second half
I am not sure about SUB 26:30, but why not close to?
In terms of 10000m I would put Tadese over Wanjiru and Tadese has "only "26:37

Just to be clear here - you mean 26'30 with 10k specific training, not with HM training, right?
You never know with Ventolin but a good 10000m that day wouldn´t be far fatched because he went through 10km in 27:27 running another 11,1km at extreme pace!

on a side note geb said he has not earned an olympic spot in the marathon and will not run the olympic marathon even if the ethiopian federation wants him to.
