is it still a record after it is offset for the track?

northeast schools are bullshit anyway, getting fat off of times at the reggie lewis then getting their asses handed to them by the WIAC at nationals.

all those sub-10 DMR schools won't run 10:15 at nationals

So that's why all those guys from the WIAC schools took home national titles in indoor last year....oh wait

and...no. New England has the best D3 middle distance runners in the nation this year.

Also, if you knew anything about track in the Northeast, you'd know that most fast times aren't run at Reggie Lewis.

Year in and year out the Eastern schools run these fast times and continually underperform at nationals. This is not a 100% blanket statement, but it happens more often than not. Also goes to show how the "adjustments" for oversized get screwed compared to what the banked tracks do.

Every year it happens. Some kid gets in from Bates or Middlebury because of a time he got at BU or somewhere else, and then he runs a 4:20 behind three guys out of the WIAC or North Central.

It's not that hard to see if you go on Raceberry and look it up.

Except last year when Guarino won the mile and Scheetz won the 800. Or are we not counting that?

Pretty sure Scheetz split his 4x8 at New Englands on Springfield (Awful, flat track) in 1:49 on a triple back. So yeah.

All the rediculous fast times come from the east, then all the top spots at nationals come from the midwest. So yeah.

I said it wasn't a 100% blanket statement. But being a typical east coast homer, you take 2 guys that actually performed and try and make an argument. Again, more often than not, East coast schools have more fast times going into nationals and coming out of the midwestern schools have more AAs and titles.

you mean two "rediculous" times (the little red squiggle means you spelled it wrong), if you're referring to times run at BU, which, even if they added 10 seconds to their times, would have made it in

A million times this. No one is saying that the kids aren't good, just that the times are inflated for various reasons.

Neither Bowdoin nor Middlebury will be below 10:05 at Nationals.

a time is a time. Doesn't the Midwest have a bunch of oversized indoor tracks? If you don't like it go run on one of those.

Midwest guys: stop complaining about this. All the times get converted to a flat track equivalent anyway.

hahaha so now we're saying a 9:49 team can't run a 10:05? Dam those 15 second banked to flat track conversions...

If they don't run sub 10:05 it'll be because the rest of the field is also running that slow, not because they ran on a banked track at some point in the season.

If a banked track is so much faster just drive to Indianapolis and run on one.

QFT. New England had a beast of a year in XC, and is following it up with a helluva indoor track season. Midwest people shouldn't wear there jealousy on their sleeves so much.

I fully expect New England to come away with 3+ AA DMR teams this year. Especially considering how intense the rivalries between schools like Bowdoin, Midd, Bates and MIT are becoming. If Tufts makes it, they have a shot as well.

Also, did anybody else notice Bates' DMR at the BU meet this weekend was a complete "B" team? I mean none of the people on it were on the relay that ran 9:55 a few weeks back. Their "B" team ran 10:03 and is sitting in 15th place nationally... Not bad.

I love the Defector reference. Amherst had a near sub 4 guy years ago didn't they? The coach who was an Oly Trial 800 stud still there?
