To answer your question about my coaching experience it includes age group track (1995-1997) where I had several regional champions at 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 2K steeple and a National champion at 1,500 meters. I also coached at the high school level at this time and coached the Idaho District II Regional champion at 1600 and 3200 and Regional championship team in the large schools division.
In 1995 I was named the Head Cross Country Coach at Lewis Clark State College (NAIA)in Lewiston,Idaho. It was the first year for the program and I left after two years after the frustration of dealing with an uncooperative administration and no recruiting budget. I did recruit the program's first NAIA All American. They are now an NAIA cross country staple, with both men's and women's teams consistently ranked within the top 10 nationally.
In the last 3 years I have been coaching the 2 time Idaho 1A State Champion at 3200 meters and 2010 1A/2A State Cross Country champion. He was runner up in 2011 by an eyelash.
Most of the group of 15 that I coach now are marathoners looking to get Boston qualifying times. They are people with lives, jobs and in most cases, children. They aren't looking for Olympic Trials qualifying times or anything like that. We've had a pretty good success rate with the marathoners running personal bests by anywhere from 10 to 27 minutes to achieve Boston qualifying times.
So, there it is. I have nothing to hide here. Never have.
