This, again, is foolish. I lived in North Dakota for a few winters and I ran outdoors when the roads were clear and below zero. But in ice/snow, 30 mph wind and sub zero, in the dark (those of us out of college have to run in the dark 1/4 of the year), where can you do an effective tempo run?
Today in Colorado we have just gotten a foot of snow, the wind is gusting over 30mph and there is heavy wet snow everywhere and nowhere to run out of the traffic. Where would you run in the dark if you have a tempo scheduled? Would one be better off stop/starting a run at 8:00 pace or slower? I do that some days, but not every day.
