Fast course.
Flat, very few turns.
There is about an 8 mile straight away, turn-around and 8 straight miles back within the course.
They can really keep it rolling.
Good temperature, good pacing, loaded talent.
Still amazingly deep.

Why are we picking all this apart? When I first read the news I was amazed and excited. I could only think of how this is going to play out in London and how are the Ethiopians now going to choose their marathoners for the Olympics. I believe that IAAF certified the race, so the course length shouldn't be an issue. Like others stated, there are few turns so you can get running and not having to slow down. The pacing seemed pretty even throughout, so it was smart running. Obviously there was quite the pack at the 13.1 mile point, so running in a group always pays off better than doing it alone. All showed, historically, that they have the talent...but maybe just timed it right for the marathon. I'm excited about it!!! Congrats!!!
