I want to wait, but that's a LONG time. Plus, I'd have to shut off my phone, too, as a lot of my friends will be watching the updates. And, I'm still holding out hope that someone gets down there tomorrow and finds a way to bootleg stream the race, and if that's the case I want to be able to watch said stream.

The marathon coverage starts after an NHL game between the Red Wings and the Black Hawks. Expect overtime and a shootout which should eat up about 30 to 40 minutes of marathon coverage.
My prediction of what we will see:
--They will keep their canned opening sequence, which will include 20 minutes of silly background profiles.
--They will keep the laborious starting line intros, including the entire national anthem.
--They will show the first mile of both races.
--They will skip the next 22 miles of both races and show the last few miles of each race.
--They will keep the 20 minutes of post race interviews.
For that reason, I will follow the live updates through the morning and hope for the best as far as the TV coverage.

Yes. How many runners frequent the nbc message boards - that's what I thought. And I don't call nbc enjoyable.
I would get the immediate play by play here but will be running hills in the morning, so I'll check in here when I'm back and get the play by play then.
Since I told cable and dish what they could do with their sports station propagandists bloated monthly fees I will be following along on here while the race is going on and then go to the fitness center and watch the race while I am working out on the eliptical.
C'mon, we watch different shows all the time. Can't you? I intend to watch both, she is a big Trials fan along with me and I also want to see the start of the Saints game so we'll have two TVs going - one in the den and one in the family room for the time period 4:30 to 5:00..
Looks like I will be leaving the house at half time unless the Saints are losing badly.
I should be able to watch the delayed coverage in the bedroom.
Me too. I'm doing my long run in the morning, then when I come home I'm not even going NEAR my computer or cell phone until after I watch it on TV. I'm even missing my b/f's race 3000m, but he understands because he knows I've been looking forward to these trials forever!!!!
impossible! it's gonna be all over the news dude! you won't be able to avoid see highlights + results.
As I said in another thread, I don't think the NBC "show" will be any good. I am guessing that of the 120 minutes of the "show" we will get less than 60 minutes of running. The average hour long TV shows have 16 min of commercials. Doing the math that is 32 minutes of commercials in a 2 hour show. Now factor in some sappy introduction that lasts a few minutes, and then throw in the obligatory interviews, my guess is that we see no more than 60 min of running.
Does anyone know if NBC, or anyone else, will stream the complete race AFTER it shown on TV. I would rather wait a few more hours and watch the complete race if that is an option.
