Has AJ Acosta signed with anyone?

AJ has little value to be honest as just a american miler running times as he did in college. Shoe companies need to see him the big picture of the sport. He now could not get a lane in a big european meet , he's just not fast enough or world class yet. AJ would maybe better served to get into the nike program , with support at all levels , a stipend and have time to develop.

Signing outside of nike for a few dollars more without the support levels will be tough for him to develop.

Piddly offers is maybe not correct , he is starting at the bottom of the food chain to sort of speak and the offers are just exactly what he and others market value is . He has to be patient over the next few years.

I don't really get this. Shoe companies marketing to the running community should be looking for a well known personality in the running community. If A.J. doesn't fit that bill I don't know who does.

There are plenty of personalities that are not the very best in their field but are still very well known and followed by fans of their chosen profession.

Last summer was a breakout season for Centro, but I wouldn't consider him the odds on favorite to beat A.J. when both come to the line healthy and in peak shape.

A.J. still has plenty of upside and that can be more fun to follow than someone who has already been to the top of the mountain.

i don't agree that AJ is a well-known figure in the running community at-large.

he's well-known among people who were on dyestat during a certain few years when he posted all the time.

Because that car salesmen definitively makes a profit. You don't know if runners are even worth giving money to. How would you even definitively measure such a thing unless they had their own shoe or jersey to sell?

Did he really think he was going to get more than $45K a year???

I doubt the 11th best plumber in the country is a millionaire, unless he has made millions outside of plumbing.

You're going to have to go ahead and tell me what that has to do with anything.

The one and only reason that a sportsperson get a sponsorship is if the sponsor sells more stuff as a result. In the case of Acosta - he's not quick enough, and has a bad image as well. If I were Nike / Adidas, etc etc I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.
