They could just change the course a little and run AROUND a hill or two instead of over them. Isn't that possible?

It is not. The marathon finishes on the main interior Central Park Road-- it is the only road in the park that can handle that amount of runners. There is no other place to put the course unless they didn't finish in Central Park, which would necessitate a major rehaul of the finishers area, etc.
The other hills involve the bridges... no getting around those unless they stop going through all five boroughs, which will never happen.

Possible, except that it's pretty well-known that they finish the race in Central Park.

I dont think a horse could run faster than 2:10 for a marathon it would be interesting race. They might not be good on the road surface.

Meb seems to be like Khannouchi in the marathon, you should never doubt his ability to run well. Plus, I think getting dropped by Nike might have given him even more fuel for the fire.
And I'll never forget having a conversation with Meb's brother Merhawi after we questioned his fitness for Boston one year. Merhawi was pretty adamant, "If Meb is on the line, he is ready to run well."

The commentator on the NBC universal sports broadcast of the race said that the last bit of the race course had ben altered to that it was flatter.
I've never been there and I've never raced there and I've only watched the NYC race on the internet a couple times, but that's what she said.
I saw some low res pics of Meb from the race with those orange racing shoes. Are those some model of Sketcher racing shoes? If anyone has higher quality pics and can confirm it and the shoe model, I would be astounded.

Relax team. The course used to enter the park at 102d, now course enters at 90th, thus eliminating a some turn, some roll and making the climb to the resevoir long but gradual.
I don't know but if he may have broken 2:08 had not he had spilt his cookies. But anyway way to go Meb! No doubt he'll break 2:06.
