Should a male public school teacher be allowed to wear a dress?

Another consideration is the reaction of the students. Understand that it doesn't take much to make even moderately well behaved kids to go off. Again, pushing the envelope is not a good move for a sub-especially if that sub desires a full time job. So, again, wear what you'd like, but the environment does not have to accommodate your fashion peccadilloes.

The first paragraph of the article says the following:

"Kids in class were laughing and pulled out of class when their male substitute teacher walked into a humanities class on Wednesday dressed in women's clothing. And who can blame a 12-year-old kid for snickering?"

The teacher made himself a distraction to the students he was supposed to be teaching and even kicked some out of the class because of it. It is the school's responsibility to create an environment where the kids are supposed to learn. The school had every right to do what they needed to do to create the proper environment.

There's a big difference between wearing capri pants to work and a dress.

That being said... why would anyone wear capris? they're ugly.

EMPLOYERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO SET DRESS CODES FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES. Period. Discrimination isn't even the issue at stake here.

But did the school have a dress code in place for teachers and make it known to the substitute? They certainly have the right to do so, but I'm guessing there was not one in place.

As for ugly capris......crossdressing men or those who are in their year of "transition" are not generally so fashion forward. The fashion edge goes to the straight up gay men;)

This is an argument against public education.
