He's faster than German is now.....and he's only been running for like a year and a half.......so it doesn't really matter how fast German ran 3 years ago

it's not about AGE. it's about how long a runner has been training. that's what you should be impressed about
Huh? German ran those times as a teen with probably the same or less time under his belt than Lalang. Remember, Lalang has been doing workouts and training supposedly for a year and a half, and it was Ajax that he has been just doing general fitness running for much much longer than that. I just don't get all the hype around Lalang, he's like a poor man's Chelanga.

There's a lot of hype on Lalang because he's destroying everyone, and apparently just on 50 or so miles a week. I mean we've seen runners just as good and maybe better than him, but not many. But, there's definitely reason to be talking about him I mean the guy broke 4 minutes in the mile the first time he ever ran on a track.

so Fernandez had only been training for a year n a half when he ran those times?
According to this guy from the thread about not giving german enough credit, he's been running since his freshman year.
"That's kind of how high school went with him; excellent freshman track and sophomore cross country season, along with some bumps, bruises, and mediocre performances, and then a huge breakout his senior year. Maybe he'll get it right this year, but all we can do for now is sit and wait."
But, I believe I've read somewhere that he didn't run until his junior year, and that he played football before that. I could be completely wrong, but that's what I'm somehow remembering.

I really wish we did... There's a new foreigner that spoils it for us every year.
Maybe if we were better at running, this wouldn't be a problem. We need to stop b*tching about what is out of our control. And how do we know that the best elites in the country would want an american only championship? Maybe they like being pushed to another level. Maybe not, but complaining won't do anything.

Actually, I am for banning anyone faster than me. Then I'll feel great patting myself on the back each time I finish a race. I can also enjoy the video after I get home focusing on yours truly without all those unfairly faster than I am folks getting in the way.
