He seemed to have been pushed before coming up to the turn, but when the camera cut down to the track at the turn, seems like he stumbled over himself or the side of the track, and then dropped out. It doesn't look like he was pushed to the side of the track, he just seemed to give up after losing a little bit of ground because he wasn't being aggressive enough to run with the big boys.
Solinsky can always improve his mindset but I have to agree that right now he is world class runner and not a world class competitior. If nothing goes wrong he runs great but when it's time to compete recently it's doesn't take much mentally or physically to take him out the race.
1.) Galen doesn't run scheduled 10000m, Solinksy drops out after what 7 minutes?
2.) Yes he did get pushed (it's a push not a hard shove) in today's 5000m and he should have been frustrated but look at the video, frustrated or not he could have still finished the race strongly.
Come on Solinsky toughen up and show the world your talent even if the race does have some physical contact or mind games.
Dont look at Solinski look at the guy right behind him, you see he pushed pretty hard since it was pushed back, I think it was Alamirew too, it may have been big group but that was just an intentional push.
That is the bushiest track meet I've ever seen.
Is it any secret that these races in Europe are dirty, physical affairs? Is it surprising at all that these two Ethiopians would do anything within their power to secure a bigger paycheck? No the real surprise here is that Chris Solinsky was unable to fight back. Watch the video again. He steered himself off the track after Alamirew gave him a shove. Throw an elbow! Get aggressive. The guy probably outweighs Alamirew 160 to 125. Thats 35 pounds of muscle he can throw into one of those little africans. Take the risk of getting DQ'd rather than DNF. and even if he had lost 2 seconds to the leaders he could have hung on for a sub 13. Instead he maintained our reputation as soft Americans who grew up with a silver spoon. I honestly thought Solinksy was going to be gritty and aggressive. This, along with Wheating's DNS made for a disappointing day from my 2 favorite runners. I wasn't that surprised that Rupp copped out. Oh and congrats to Lagat for a great performance. Note that he started his competitive season a bit later than Farah, and he could very well sharpen up those last 50 meters and win in Daegu. I find it interesting that

HE WANTED REVENGE. but then camera angle changes. 2 or 3 seconds later, you can see him in the background again and somebody elses hands are on his shoulders (don't know if they are pushing or holding him back) it was a white, or white-ish, non black non American runner who is holdin SOL back. face to face.
did solinsky try to get some?

He goes to shake Lagat's hand. Espana is the other runner Espana who was the runner behind Solinsky when he stepped off. No beef.
I agree with 'Amuricah.' At some point you have to say "it is what it is" and learn to deal with it. In this case, Merga (or whoever) is doing what he can to get inside Solinsky's head. And it worked! Is it dirty? Yes, but he (or whoever) obviously doesn't care, and also doesn't mind having the reputation. Or maybe he's getting praise from his country for it. No matter, Solinsky can't let it get to his head. If he does, then that's another element that he's going to have to deal with mentally in international races, and ultimately Merga (and whoever) gets his way.
Solution? If I were Solinsky, I wouldn't want to take cheap shots during a race, but I guess he's going to have to fight back if he needs to. That is, if some little guy half his size messes with him....

when you are running in the pole position and you get shoved, pushed, and have to alter your stride someone else has made a violation (where is the interference call?)
As for him finishing...that's his call. Anyone who wants to judge him for this had better have had this happen to them first.
Will there be a 5000 in Stockholm or London that Solinsky and/or Rupp could jump into? Solinsky especially needs a confidence boost going into Worlds! Rupp has his Birmingham race.
Now along with "Rupp-Certified" races will have to be Merga/Alamirew free!

Rupp and Sol need to get together for some Rugby scrimmage on the Nike campus. Surely some Nike er, U of O linebackers can show them a trick or two.
The Big Whitefish appears to have quit and/or been frustrated. The shove was not enough to put him out of the race.
next race send in an Amercan goon, some big 13:45 guy to F with the Ethiopians after 5 laps when the are tired.
