Webb to be coached by Vig

Does the article say he is going to be coached by vigilante? Seems like people are jumping to conclusions here..... If he is coaching Webb, I wonder what the financial details are. Sort of awkward bc Webb without contract can't do much for vig.

Webb is a headcase and Vig is a headcase. Charlottesville will be headcase city.

I certainly wouldn't mind training with robby andrews and alan webb under coach vig... Wherever vig goes, he's produced a slew of awesome mid-distance guys.

All the article says is that Webb and his wife are "...moving to Charlottesville to train." and they "...will be moving to town as early as July to train in what many feel is one of the best running environments in the country."

Nowhere in the article are the words "Jason", "Vigilante", "Vig", "coach", or "University of Virginia".

If Vig is to be his coach, you would think the reporter would have said so - but he did not. Very interesting.

Credit to Nearman for first getting this story. I think Charlottesville will be a great location for Webb. He is close enough to see the family and friends in a few hours but not right there and he has one hell of an area to run in around the town and mountains. Plus, he's got his wife and is somewhat healthy, so I think he will be ready to roll come next year.

I know everyone claims Webb to have the mental capcity of a 13 year old middle school girl but give the guy some damn credit. He is still kind of banged up and instead of doing what he did in 2008 and run the US champs at less than 100% he is taking a step back and getting his entire life in gear. He also, and I think AlSal as well, has stated that Webb wanted to train with 800-1500m types and he had none of those in Oregon. Can you really imagine Webb and Andrews training together? If Webb can stay healthy I can only imagine the insane training sessions they will push each other through. And Webb is playing it smart this year. He knows he wants Olympic bling not Daegu bling and he's going after it. God damn is he going to smoke some folks next year!

Mr. Webb knows what is right for himself, and his family. He is also probably in better shape right now, then we give him credit for. I see him producing very fast times, in the near future. It's not a question of if.

I heard that Webb ran a 3:35 in Nike Shocks during a time trial, can anyone confirm this?

I AGREE Webb, Is a miler not a 5k guy. The sooner he gets back to basics the better off he will be. Not sure why he did not stick with his high school coach and just look for long term development from one year to the next...

He did stick with the high school coach and where did that get him? Nowhere. Should have stuck with the college coach who has actually turned two white males into Olympic medal winners.

Alan Webb will become a better racer under Vig. All of the former texas guys and current Virginia mid-d guys are outstanding racers and tacticians at 800m and 1500m. Webb will be a badass once again and now he can finally work on his speed again. He improved his aerobic endurance under Salazar and now he can get back to being race fit for 800m and 1500m. Genius move by Webb. Vig will light the fire back in Webb.
