BUT if he is peaking and at a major championship without a doubt he can run 19.3. My god he was running 19,6 when he was running 10.0. If his 100 time drops .31 you can take at least that off his 200m time. its like saying a kid that runs 11.0 and 22.2 drops his 100 to 10.69 and can run about a 48 in the 400m and you say he isn't capable of taking .31 off his 200m time and run 21.89.

Tyson Gay is NOT in the same league as Bolt is. Tyson Gay is in Asafa Powell territory in the 100, and shares his 200 league with the rest of the 19.6 runners.

Those of you who believe this 150 means that he'll be able to run a 19.3; dream on. The injuries you're all using to claim that he actually CAN beat Bolt, are actually a prove that he CAN'T. Staying healthy is a talent one must also have to be able to improve. The blablabla about; I've never been healthy since 2006 is what we hear now, but when he won Osaka you didn't hear this crap. I know that the guy has to come up with some kind of story about not being able to hang with Bolt, but this is BS. Same story came from Powell btw, a few days before.

The only one who can beat Bolt is Bolt himself; the guy has some issues to keep his focus (which is understandable if there's nothing more to prove and you'r only 24). I won't be surprised if the Bolt era will end after London.

Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell will have their hands full with holding off the Blake's of this world. They should'n't be bothered by the illusion that a focused Bolt is beatable; because he's not. All fans who thake that Stockholm race serious should find another sport to follow; Bolt announced already in 2009 that 2010 would be the only year the rest was given the opportunity to beat him. Look carefully at that 150 race; that wasn't a man who was giving his all there.

As for beating Bolt.. no. Bolt is in his area code, and Tyson is in his own area code behind him. Then there's everyone else, headlined by Powell.

As hard as Gay runs the turn.. if he's on pace for a 19.3 in the world championships, he will probably be beating Bolt slightly coming off the turn. If that happens.. look out. I think Bolt will absolutely murder the last 100 in that scenario and pull out an 18.9. I really do.

The beauty of our sport is that we don't know what will happen. We can speculate, we can believe, but we can never really know. I look forward to every match up between these two as it will give me butterflies and regardless of who wins, I'll probably really enjoy it.

This proves nothing in terms of Tyson's ability. I saw the race where he ran 19.58 in May. He then got injured and missed. This doesn't theoretically affect your fittness and training. It actually does. I have no doubts he can run much faster than 19.58. Why? His 100m and 400m prs evidence the fact that he has elite short speed and very good long sprint ability, especially for a short sprinter. This is a good formula for dropping some fast 200m races. If he makes it through the season healthy he will absolutely set a big pr in the 200m if conditions allow for it. But no, Bolt is still faster. So what? Bolt is the only person for Gay to chase. So anyone trying to say he shouldn't focus on him is an idiot.

May I remind you that the guy who had the 200WR for 15 years was a 43.4 runner by the time he broke that record? You're all talking about Gay running 19.3 like it's nothiong, but there's nothing that tells me that he's capable of doing so based on that 44.8 and a 9.69 with a 2.0 tailwind!

I understand that all US posters deperately need someone to step up, and Gay will maybe run another 19.5 in his carreer, but that's it. The body is breaking down rapidly now, and we've problably seen the best of him time-wise in both 100 and 200.

And a 9.71 with a +0.9. After missing two weeks of training in the middle of the summer. And 9.78 into a -0.4 in wet sub60 weather, again after missing a month of preparation. It's obvious to everyone who understand the sport of track and field that his 200m personal best is not indicative of his ability. Or is 45.2 the fastest Bolt can run for 400m?

Did you read the entire post. I said a combination of elite 100m speed and very good 400m time for a short sprinter. I wasn't basing it solely on the 400m. What's Bolt's pr in the 400m so far? He has run 19.19 for 200m. Michael Johnson was a 400m/200m guy. Tyson Gay is a 100m/200m guy. You don't have to run 43.1 in the 400m to run a fast 200m. Gay has much better short sprint speed than Johnson and enough strength to translate into a faster 200m than 19.58, which was his first 200m that season, and then he got hurt.

Let’s just agree to disagree....the one thing I know that everyone can agree on is that we can't wait to see someone really challenge USAIN BOLT especially in the 200m. Unlike most of the Americans I get really bored if the same person (country) wins an event all the damn time, especially if it's a blowout.
