It turns out that Osama was de-animated by Seal Team Six, the Navy counter-terror unit that was created by Richard Marchinko in the 1980's.

I don't lay claim to being an afficianado, but I remember reading one or two of Dick Marcinko's books. As I recall among their early jobs was to try to think like terrorists, and run dry-run raids on various critical targets inside the US--military bases & such. Time & time again they would beat security, sometimes getting in trouble for taking hostages and treating them rather rudely.

I think it makes the moment all the more sweeter knowing that OBL was taken out somewhat up close & personal with a bullet to his Islam-infected brain (if true), rather than impersonally via predator drone.

THANK THE F***ING CIA! Those guys never get credit for shit and always get ragged on. This is some damn fine intelligence work and a flawless tactical operation by our military. Obama gets credit for not discounting the intelligence and pulling the trigger.

Maybe Clinton deserves the presidential credit. He was looking for Bin Laden, with authorization to kill on sight, way before Bush Jr.We know Bush Jr. finished his search for Bin Laden, based on speeches he gave during his first term. Is there any reason to believe Bush Jr. ever started searching for Bin Laden? One thing we knew for sure, was that Bin Laden was not in Iraq.

In 1998, Bush was governor of Texas. But when Bush was president and had the opportunity to focus the US military on Osama he started the war in Iraq, instead.

Who cares who started the search? Obama got information in August on his whereabouts, formed a team, did the research and gave the orders to nail his ass. He was successful and deserves the credit.

Obviously the special forces team really deserves the credit, but praise is always given to management, we all know that. I wonder if we will ever know the man who pulled the trigger. I am extremely grateful about this news, but I think your quote from the Wizard of Oz is quite appropriate. Once the first witch was killed it didn't ake long for the the second, even more evil, witch to show up. OBL's death is a tremendous symbol but hardly an end to terrorism.

No such thing as collateral damage here. The women were living in the compound with bin Laden. They knew who he was, what he has done, and that there was a $25 million bounty on his head. They chose to stay there anyway. They were terrorists just like bin Laden and deserved to die.
