All road records are called "world bests." It is like golf, each course is different. In this case, it won't count as a record. Point to points with huge tailwinds are out for consideration. Simply put, it is just a race, a great one at that, but nothing more.

Those who bash Hall have failed to realize how difficult it is to run a marathon, much less many of them at a high level. The sport is full of drama. He's run another PR. You can't ask more from a guy!
That is sick, props to hall, he pushed the pace hard from the beginning and stayed in contention for a long time. If someone told you Hall was going to run 2:04 in Boston and not win you would never have believe them. Hell his wind converted time would still have been the fastest boston ever until last year right?
If hall had run 2:08 and come on foruth I wouldn't care but 2:04 high is crazy, especially since two of the guys who beat him had to run under the world record by 1 minute.
How the hell did he just manage faster than his recent half marathon pace for twice as far? In any case, it's official, this dude is the shit.
By this logic, we need to calculate his conversion for Beijing. Shouldn't it be faster since heat obviously slows a runner?

Official AR now is just question of time ! Ryan is in the best shape ever and he will only get better. this race should be great for Ryan Hall's confidence. Just like when Tyson Gay ran a really fast time with a great tail-wind, it's good to feel and experience how it is to run that fast, much more so with something as prolonged, taxing and volatile as a marathon.

With all the give and take on this subject. Everyone should remember, this course has always be a net downhill and many times there have been prevailing tail winds. Ryan Hall just ran a time faster than anyone else previously and three others ran even faster. Give credit where credit is due.
