The easiest thing in the world to do is poach an athlete away by whispering in athlete's ear that he should be doing this or that differently when it isn't currently working out perfectly for an athlete. There will be more of this with Vin holding Wheating out there for these 2 to fight over and Schumacher starts to feel the pressure of not getting a medal and his Wisconsin guys connection finally drying up.

Someone please explain to me why Rojo is not on that list! This could be the greatest thing to ever happen to LRC - the collective coaching of AW.
My 2 cents - he should either go back to Raczko because he had a lot of success with him, train with the best miler in the country - Lagat, or go with the coach who also has legendary miler status - Steve Scott.

I started a thread on this two weeks ago when I first heard talk going around. It is too bad but has been a long time coming. I just hope he keeps running. He needs to get his head ok before he can race, quit worrying about how good he was, and just take it day by day. If he ended his career today he is a success, if he comes back, drops some prs then what a great come back. He just needs to do what is right for him.

Would he move to NZ to train with Willis and Warhurst? That's far from home. I think he should move to Northern Virginia again. What about training with Andy Gerard at George Mason?

Didn't he already run under Warhurst (and did TERRIBLE under him)?
Also, didn't he have his most success so far under his high school coach?

Problem with Mr.Webb is that he looking looking for the elusive pot of gold magic. Note to Mr. Webb , you are not the same athlete you once were.
You have an agent like Mr Flynn looking for a pay check , Mr. Webb has not brought in much in the way of appearance , bonus or prize money in the last two years , this is how Mr.Flynn is paid beyond the original contract with Nike.
The slow growth approach Mr. Salazar has taken does not work for a spoiled brat like Mr. Webb or the needed profit once generated for Mr. Flynn.
( yes Mr. Flynn talked him out of staying in school and going pro )

i don't know what would be best for him, none of us do, maybe not even him.
he should also NOT do the "Ryan Hall" thing
maybe consider schumacher(sp?) he and lomong would be great training partners and seem to be the most alike in regards to racing range.
if not that then yes Li would be a great coach tho i think webb would feel a lot of pressure training with his rival lagat.
salazar would be super pissed if he went to schumacher... would prolly even try to cut off their ties with nike (tho i don't think he has that much pull).

Exactly. This really just proves that Webb is a flake, plain and simple. It is truly hilarious that people are saying he should go BACK to Rackzo or Warhurst.
What a headcase like Alan needs is to be coached by another flake. How 'bout Gabe Jennings? Gabe could get Alan started with a nice long bike trip to south america. After a little battle with Hep C, Alan would be ready to take on the world!
I think the problem is, as always, Webb himself. He's just not a very mature athlete.
Inconsistent racers are usually inconsistent trainers.
Get your act together, Alan. This is tiresome. I'm personally beyond aggravation.
Seung Young "GI" Cho is from the same neighborood in Virginia that Alan Webb is from. Leave those kinds of people alone. We don't want another Va Tech.
Unfortunately, it really seems like he just never gave Salazar a fair chance. He had the achilles injury and surgery and hadn't yet had a sustained racing season.
It really is a pity, because if nothing else, Salazar got Webb's weight down which everyone in the world except Alan knew was an issue. Watch how quickly he will gain that weight back now.
im going to go with april fools. Considering webb was a part of a joke they did last year its awfully suspicious that this huge news drops the day before.
It is 2 days before NOT ONE. I believe there are 31 days in March. At least there was 31 days back when I was in school.
Why is everyone acting like this is a sign that Webb has a problem. Maybe the "great Salazar" isn't the best thing for him. I see this as a sign of the beginning of the end for Oregon Project.
