Didnt run an all out 800 on my own in college. I did a workout running 1:56 once and paced a sub4 miler through in 1:58 which felt really easy.
I looked at my training log and I was hugely inconsistent. I would average about 45-50 miles a week. But would go 35 then 55 or 40 and 60. Looking back I wish I was much more consistent and did more doubles. I should have been running 70's or 80's in terms of mileage.
One of my favorite workouts was in/out 200's for 2k (32/40) 8min rest 4x400 in 65, 63, 61, 59 (200m recovery)
Also did ladders 1000m in 2:55, 800m in 2:20, 400 in 65, 400 in 65, 600 in 1:45, 800m in 2:20. There was 400 recovery in between. That one was extremely hard for me. I also loved to do 4 mile tempo runs (5:30/mile) or 1000 repeats (3:10-3:15 with 30-45 seconds recovery).
