I always wonder if it was something like this. It just doesn't make sense that a guy that was that fast (8 flat essentially by yourself in HS after runner two 1500s the day before - insane) totally dried up. I know German and Webb have not matched previous potential, but they kept trying.
Greg just seemed to fade away and no one now seems to know him, or get him to talk about it. It is really weird that it should be such a mystery.
I should add that I don't mean to cast aspersions. What I meant to say was, this doesnt seem like he just got injured and then struggled to regain past form. It just seems like he just kind of quit running suddenly and moved on (for whatever reason, school, job, boredom). Never to run again. Unusual.

I heard he got " distracted" by college life and put running on the back burner.
Too bad, Dartmouth might have won the 87 NCAA cross title with him had he run. They only lost by 30 points or so

If Anderson was 10th maybe. Possible. What I recall Arkansas had a pretty low score and Darthmouth beat Wisconsin for second for the tie-breaker.

Arkansas won by 29 points that year in 1987. Put Anderson in the top 15, beating the hogs 3rd man and they win easy,
Ironically the 5th man for the hogs that year was a Canadian who ran only 8:39 for 3k in high school ( but 3:48 1500). McDonnell knew how to develop!
