If only you could reach Mr. Salazar to provide him with this valuable information. I'm sure he would not only eliminate track training from his charges' regimens, but also move his secondary base camp from Albuquerque to Phuket.
this might not be the worst thing mentally - the guy is 28 - he comes back from this he will be closing in on 30, which is a critical time in a man's life - he might be particularly motivated to get something great done before it is too late.
Which probably just means he will do too much and wind up in the OR again.

Sheaths don't repair themselves if you don't help them repair themselves. He probably thought the ice/rest mantra was best, and when that didn't help, surgery was the next best thing. I disagree, but it's out of my hands. I've had some pretty bad injuries and they all healed in a matter of weeks with the help of some good healing strategies that don't involve surgery.

Actually, Dr. George Sheehan wrote it first. Burfoot lifted it from him.
Sheehan, though, wasn't the originator of the phrase. It's something that has been around the halls of medicine for at least a century. It's about the individual approach to each patient.
Sheehan likely heard it in the course of his medical studies and brought it into the realm of running.
