they were supposed to race today, yenew alemirew was on the start list as of yesterday.

Douglas do you know if Alamirew is coached by Woldemeskel Kostre? I hope he is. It will be very interesting to see how he does at world xc if he gets there as he hasn't really shown much above 3km

I'm gonna doubt that 1993 is this guy's real birthday. But amazing performance, regardless of age.
His exact age is irrelevant. He just ran 12.53 indoors in his first ever indoor race! I don't care how old he is, that shows unbelievable potential.

Of course that is possible, but keep in mind that most of the posters on this board had no earthly idea who these guys were 6 months ago. There will undoubtedly be others. That said, these two appear to have tremendous talent, and my gut feeling is that it would be more like Geb vs. Tergat in the sense that Koech might have to get away from Alamirew before the finish, but I am not sure of this...

Regardless of his age, this is an amazing performance, and deserves serious recognition. He's going to be a force come this summer. Hell, he's a force right now.
Who really gives a shit how old he is, I mean 12:53 indoors at 17 or 27 is still unreal. Thats 4 seconds off Bekele's world record, even if the dude is 5 years older that is an incredible run and hopefully only the first of many more to come.

Sammy Ngatia is 50 and can run 31 minutes for a 5k. I'm sure the trolls thought he was 25-30 when he was actually 20. The trolls would today claim Sammy was really on 40, not 50.
Kenyans are the only people who can be older when younger, and younger when older.
