false, in once a runner, and every other elite athlete has dedicated themselves to running. when i got a stress fracture i became an insomniac. I then learned how to speak fluent arabic at night. I made my depression work for me.

I would tell you that I have been chronically injured for four years and you should stfu...but there is a guy on the boards who is currently dieing -as he has terminal cancer, so because of him...stfu.

I unfortunately did not write that heartfelt post regarding injuries. However, I was definitely drawn to this thread after having my fair share of injuries.

No there isn't. I am the same way. I go to school, do 4.5 hours of hw a night, and not running for 6 months b/c of injury is killing me. I am pretty sure that I've gone crazy

That's how I feel now, borderline suicidal. I don't recommend volunteering though especially with races, doesn't work and is mostly a waste of time.

You are not depressed you are unhappy. Find another activity that isn’t running so you can be multi faceted

Oh, wow, you poor thing! Two whole months without running? It's a wonder you've even managed to hold on this long! I mean, who needs physical activity and endorphins to feel good when you can just sit around feeling sorry for yourself and being destructive, right?

Honestly, what can you do to help? Maybe try finding a new hobby or activity that you can do while you're recovering. Or, you know, you could always try just being grateful for the things you do have instead of focusing on what you can't do right now. But hey, what do I know?

This is why I recommend having 2-3 other activities, that do not interfere.

Swim/Climbing/kayak goes well with running. If you injure in one you train the other one. If you run so much that nothing else fits then how about:

Chess, home beer or whiskey making, stock trading, online poker, archery, shooting, boule, darts, puzzles, sodoku, axe throwing, gardening, cooking...

If he was depressed , he would suffer from it while he was able to run. Depression has nothing to do with not having what you want. He is unhappy, go eat some chocolate get some Rose wine and watch some Netflix with your girlfriends
