I'm sorry, what happened to a Letter being for those who score?
At my school, you had to run in the top 7 in a meet to earn a letter.
What is this world coming to...?
Thank You!
Its called varsity for a reason. At my school, the student handbook says that you need to place in the top 15(overall, not for the school) for at least 50% of the dual meets (and every meet we run against our rival school which takes 5 of the top 10 every meet and they count despite not scorewise.)Plus you have to run in the league meet. So technically like 4-5 of our team would letter, but my coach just gives them to anyone who makes leagues (10) because for other sports liek football, about 30 kids get them for playing like 10 min in a game.
Then again, why does it matter. At my shcool, lettering means y ou can run under 18:15, big deal. And at Arcadia, if youre the 12th guy runnign sub 16 but dont get a letter, who gives a crap. You can run sub 16, and theres nothign special abotu a letter seeing as at least about 7 kids form every high school in the US have one.
