I believe this statement to be 100% correct and explains Gotcher's debut. Gotcher is the outlier.

McMillan has said himself that Paige Higgins should break 2:30, but hasn't over about a half dozen attempts.

Lemoncello and Fagan have both underperformed in the marathon considering their ability at other distances.

Carney, Bizuneh, and Arcinega were all supposedly ready to run 2:09 in Chicago. Arcinega ran 2:18 and the others dropped out before 18 miles. 2 more drop outs in Fukuoka before 18 miles again.

This all helps to prove your point. Gotcher was the outlier and had nothing to do with Greg's training.

Mr. Bizuneh is over 30 years old. People need to stop acting like he was going to turn around 5 years of poor marathoning just because he has a new coach. Mr. Bizuneh has failed with Scott Simmons and Bob Sevene and now Greg McMillan. Mr. Bizuneh is the problem, not the coach.

Was a tough day though, only 1 under 2.10. Perhaps a lot of guys were a bit ambitious considering the warm weather...

Are you talking about Chicago? Because that excuse has already been used within the last 3 months. He should try blaming it on fueling or food poisoning or rough travel. It is only fair to keep us fans on our toes by keeping several different excuses in the game.

What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Hmmmmmmm.

Excuses excuses. Heat, humidity, wind, etc. Others still raced and finished, somebody won. Accept defeat and move on.

It's only tough if you finish. Dropping out is not tough at all. It is easy as hell to drop out. Dropping out is a cop out because you know that it is going to be tough. So rather than put up with the hurt, you DNF. This is an increasing behavior for McMillan athletes. When the going gets tough McMillan trained athletes quit.

Try looking at it this way: Gotcher is the outlier, yes. however, he is the outlier OF GREG'S TRAINING!!! the other guys/girls might be successful elswhere or with different training, but not with mcmillan's. it's only worked for two athletes so far. maybe that's the deal, you only get 2 biggies out of every 10 athletes. heck, even hansons only had sell and davila as "superstars". yes, the rest of teh crew was solid, but nothing like those two. same thing in flag, gotcher and arcianaga....and a bunch of others who perhaps aren't ever going to see that level of success that those two do. btw, i'mn a fan of the biz, truly a good guy.
